Cynthia's journey to fame began after she relocated to New York in order to become a fashion designer. Following signing a contract that lasted for several years, Cynthia was able to get a successful start as cover girl of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's first cover was among the magazine's most popular covers and one of the most requested by then editor-in-chief Susan Taylor. Soon thereafter, Cynthia booked her second cover, and created the stage for her successful career. Then, she went into Paris as well as Milan. There, she was on the runway for Paris Fashion Week as well as Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia relocated to New York City after living in the United States for nearly a year. The campaigns she worked on comprised Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Elle's, Glamour's, Essence's and Vanity Fair magazine editorials soon were followed. Cynthia's career was boosted by her being chosen before Naomi Campbell for the co-starring part in "Without You", I'm nothing" opposite Sandra Bernhadt.
